What we believe

The following are brief statements on what we believe along with links to supporting biblical references. Click on the Title Line of any item to be directed to expansive notes concerning each point.

I We believe the Holy Bible, which includes the canonical books of both the Old and New Testaments, is unique, is written by men, and is divinely inspired in all its contents. The Church accepts the Holy Bible and its teaching as inerrant and authoritative; therefore, it is the only source and norm of doctrine, morality and life in the Church. Psalms 12:6, 19:7-10, 119:1-176; Isaiah 8:20, 40:8; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21.

IIWe believe there is only one true God, Creator and Preserver of all things. God is one self-existent being who exist as three uncreated, co-eternal, co-equal, consubstantial persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Mark 1:10-11; Luke 1:35; Acts 7:55; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 9:14; 1 Peter 1:2.

IIIWe believe God is the Creator and Preserver of all things visible and invisible, who sustains and governs the whole created order by His wisdom and holy providence. Genesis 1:1; Psalms 33:6-11; Acts 17:24-27; Romans 11:33-36; Hebrews 11:3.

IIVWe believe that the perfect sinless humanity and the absolute full deity of the Lord Jesus Christ is indissolubly united in one divine human person and in His unique incarnation by miraculous conception and virgin birth. Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1, 14, 18, 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11; Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 1:3.

VWe believe God the Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and God the Son having been sent to accomplish all things on Earth as the Lord and Giver of Life. He regenerates all true believers indwelling them and leading them into all truth. John 14:17, 26, 15:26, 16:7-8, 13; Romans 8:1-16; Ephesians 1:17, 1 Corinthians 2:9-16.

VIWe believe man was created in the image of God, tempted by Satan, and received spiritual and physical death through sin. Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 3:1-24; Romans 6:22.

VIIWe believe personal salvation comes by God’s grace alone and is received through faith alone in the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Romans 3:21-28, 4:4-5, 5:8-10, 11:5-6; Galatians 2:16,21, 3:24-25; Ephesians 1:3-12, 2:8-10; Philippians 3:8-9.

VIIIWe believe every believer should receive baptism in water. We do NOT believe that water baptism is necessary for regeneration. Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 3:21-22; Acts 2:36-38, 8:36-39; Romans 6:1-7.

IXWe believe God has given to the Church the Manifestation Gifts of the Spirit, the ministry gifts and motivational gifts for the purpose of training up believers, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the Church and that all believers should earnestly seek God for the gifts He has for them. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 12:27-31; Ephesians 4:11-14.

XWe believe the sanctification of every believer is both progressive and positional. Every believer is spiritually separated from the world and unto God by their position in the Lord Jesus Christ at regeneration. As a matter of practice, every believer is progressively being transformed by the Holy Spirit to bring them into greater obedience to the Word of God. John 17:14-19, Romans 4:7-24, 8:5-14; 1 Corinthians 1:30; Philippians 1:6, 2:12-13; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7; Hebrews 10:14; 1 Peter 1:15; 2 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:29.

XIWe believe all ministries flow through the local Church. Every believer is called to participate in a local Church so that they may exhort, encourage, help and most importantly discern the Lord’s Body. Every believer has a responsibility to help other believers maintain their covenant relationship with God and other believers. Genesis 12:1-3; Hebrews 10:24-25; Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:47, 8:1, 11:22,26, 12:5, 13:1, 14:23,27, 15:3-4, 18:22, 20:17,28; Romans 16:1,5; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 4:17, 11:18, 14:4,5,12,23, 16:19; 2 Corinthians 1:1; Ephesians 3:10,21, Ephesians 5; Philippians 4:15; Colossians 4:15-16; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:1; 1 Timothy 3:5,15; Philemon 1:2; James 5:14; 3 John 1:10; Revelation 2:1, 8, 12, 18, 3:1, 7, 14.

XIIWe believe all believers must exhibit lives that bring honor and not reproach to God or His Church. It is the responsibility of the Church to help believers who sin to be restored to God and the Church. Matthew 18:15-18; 1 Corinthians 5:1-5; 2 Corinthians 2:6-8; Galatians 6:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:22; Hebrews 12:11.

XIIIWe believe the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is theocratic in its form of government where the Lord Jesus Christ, through Holy Spirit given revelation, governs through Apostles, prophets, pastors and elders. Therefore, our local Church is governed by the Senior Pastor and the Elders (elders). Psalms 127:1; Acts 15:28, 20:28; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11-16.

XIVWe believe that the Church and the family are holy institutions, ordained and established by the Sovereign Triune God who created the heavens and the earth. God’s infallible revelation, the Bible, reveals that the family is an integral part of the unfolding of His eternal purpose for the redemption of sinners. This great and gracious salvation—purposed by the Father, accomplished by the Son, and applied by the Holy Spirit—is in great measure passed on to succeeding generations as parents faithfully disciple the children God gives them. Therefore, the biblical order and unity of the family are crucial to the stability and health of the Church of Jesus Christ. Deuteronomy 6:1-2; Malachi 2:15; Luke 1:50; Ephesians 5:22-33; Ephesians 6:1-4.

XVWe believe that God is the creator and initiator of marriage in that He “created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” and ordained it to be a divine covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27, 2:21-24, 5:2). Therefore, a wedding is a form of Christian worship that gives honor to God. In the New Testament Jesus and the Apostle Paul uphold the definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman only (Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6; 1 Corinthians 7:2-5). Therefore, only marriages that adhere to the biblical standard are valid, veracious, and binding and are the only marriages KBC recognizes.

XVIWe believe the Bible explicitly teaches, in both the Old and New Testaments, that lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, or transgender (LGBT) lifestyles are in disobedience to God’s commands, are each an offense against God’s nature, constitute idolatry, and as such are to be abstained from.  Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Deuteronomy 22:5; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:9-10; Romans 1:18-32.
